Four pieces, in order

We publish one scene at a time. If you're new, read these four in order — they take about twenty minutes and they make every later guide easier to use.

  1. 01

What to wear to a rooftop dinner in October

The flagship scene. Read it first to see how a scene breaks into layers, pieces, and one finish.

Scene Wardrobes · The rooftop dinner scene, decoded: three decisions, one finish, and how to dress for the fifteen-degree swing between 7 p.m. and midnight.

  2. 02

Brand size charts, decoded: what the numbers actually mean

Before any online order: how to read a size chart against your own measurements.

Fit & Sizing · How to read a brand size chart against your own measurements — garment measurements versus body measurements, vanity sizing, and what to do between sizes.

  3. 03

Merino, lambswool, cashmere: what the labels actually promise

The fiber vocabulary that shows up on every autumn label — and what each one actually does.

Clothing · The three fibers on every autumn label, decoded — what each one is, how it behaves in wear and washing, and which claims on the label are worth reading.

  4. 04

The coastal weekend scene, packed in one carry-on

The method applied to travel: one carry-on, five pieces, a week of scenes.

Capsules & Packing · A five-piece system for a coastal weekend in one carry-on: what to pack, what to wear on the plane, and how to edit when the bag says no.

The scene checklist

Print this page to PDF (or save it) and keep it with your packing list. Five questions, in the order we ask them for every scene.

  1. 1.Name the moment. Where does the scene start and end, and who is in the room?
  2. 2.Check the swing. The coldest and warmest hours of the scene decide the layers, not the average.
  3. 3.Set the formality level. One to five, from "anything clean" to "the invitation said cocktail".
  4. 4.Pick the base and the finish. One comfortable base layer, one layer that reads deliberate, one accessory that ends the argument.
  5. 5.Test the shoes. If you can't stand for two hours in them, they're not the shoe for this scene.

No email required — the checklist lives on this page.
